Well, hello! If there’s even one person reading this, to you I say: hey, how are ya? I’m glad you’re here, and I hope you’ll stick around.
My name is Katherine, and I launched My Fancy Table at the end of last year in an endeavor to make my favorite task of setting the table into... something to scratch my creative itch. My goal IRL is to set your table, if you’d let me. And my goal on the interweb is to create a place where you can find some inspiration for your own table, do a little shopping, and hopefully feel creative yourself.
I’m very excited to start putting my thoughts and favorite table trinkets down on “paper,” in hopes of connecting with some of you and reconnecting with myself through the process. I launched this brand after I got married and had the absolute best time setting my own wedding table. I was in between jobs and had the flexibility to really focus on My Fancy Table as a passion project. Since then, I’ve started working a full-time job, and naturally, this started slipping through the cracks. I love my new job and have been focused on growing there but my heart is always pushing me toward MFT, and I’m constantly noodling on new ways to be creative here.
My goal is to keep a newsletter of thoughts, table inspiration, any inspiration really, and post it all here for you to enjoy. It’s so important that we keep the things that bring us joy in life at the forefront because they can be so easily overshadowed by the chaos of regular life. My Fancy Table is a way for me to take care of myself, show up for something that truly brings me joy, and spend some time focusing on something fun. It’s important we all do that, right? So today, I’m reminding myself how important this is to me, and I hope you choose to do something important for you. Whether it’s cooking, reading, writing, whatever... let’s all make it more of a priority to return to the things we love and have a little fun, okay? Okay.
Whenever August rolls around, I swear I come to LIFE. The sun glows a little differently, the air starts to change, and those sweet summer greens start deepening into fall. From here on out, we can look forward to the most magical time of the year with the people we love. It’s time to say hello to spooky season, fireside hangs, twinkle lights, warm baths, and dimly lit dining rooms. I hope you take time for yourself during the last quarter of the year, especially if you haven’t already. Light a candle, kick your feet up, buy yourself a cute little vase and stick it on your nightstand so it sparks cuteness aggression every time you look at it.

The Luster You Didn’t Know You Needed
I recently thrifted a vintage 1930’s Japanese low bowl with a ceramic flower frog in a very gorgeous luster glaze. I found the one below on Etsy and it rocked my world because it’s ALSO seashell shaped. What more could you possibly need? A hint of a high gloss, metallic glaze and all of a sudden life is worth living again.
Why Not Polka Dot?
I cannot stress this enough: I am obsessed with polka dots. I picked up the cutest black-and-white polka dot vase while on vacation this month, and it’s the perfect high-contrast addition to my living room. I can’t stop staring at it.
Sometimes you need a splash of something with a little character, and polka dots have serious main-character syndrome. I picked this ceramic wall candle holder because, just look at her. You could slap it on a blank wall in your hallway and instantly change the whole vibe.

Okay, this one might not be something you’d typically put on your fancy dinner party table, but no one is stopping you from making a custom lava lamp your next centerpiece. From the second I laid my eyes on these groove tubes from @shae.studio, I knew I’d never be the same again.

For My Cowgirls & Boys
I think I’ve ridden a horse twice in my life but it won’t stop me from loving a western-style ceramic. I’d take anything from Daniel Dooreck, but this oval serving platter feels like the hosting piece you’d never stop reaching for. Each of his custom pieces are hand-thrown, and have a rustic but classic feel that will seamlessly live among the rest of your serveware collections for years to come.

A Classic Necessity
There’s something about a cute pitcher that sparks joy in the most major way. Slap a stripe on a pitcher, and I will unfortunately have to buy it right then and there.
A good pitcher is the easiest way to convince your friends you’re the hostess with the mostest. Fill one with ice water, leave it casually on the table, and watch the crowd go wild (or maybe just me).
Pitchers are one of my favorite things to keep an eye out for while thrifting, but they’re just as worthy of an add-to-cart moment. They’re endlessly versatile: flower vase by day, sangria holder by night.
